Totoku cost effective 9MsP Monitors for Mammography
The NJV-CBC has five 64-bit Windows 7 viewing workstations comprised of Totoku 5MP and 9MsP monitors, Three Palm Software viewing software and PenRad reporting software. The Totoku MS31i2 (9MsP) monitors utilize Independent Sub-pixel Drive (ISD) technology developed by Totoku. ISD enables a 3MP monitor to be driven to display 9MsP (9 mega sub-pixels). Totoku is the first and only company to obtain 510K approval for mammography use with such a monitor. This presents a value proposition for imaging centers, hospitals and radiologists for cost reduction when purchasing a mammography viewing workstation without concern for sacrificing quality in the display of the images. The price point of the MS31i2 compared to a 5MP monitor is much better.
“We are very pleased with the Totoku ISD monitors”, says Dr. Ellis. “The 9MsP monitors are used along with the 5MP monitors by our radiologists. Performance and effectiveness have been similar between the monitors. With continued pressures on hospitals for cost reduction, the Totoku ISD monitors for mammography provides a significant cost savings opportunity that many hospitals will certainly take notice of.”
The satisfaction of the MS31i2 monitors for mammography reading at NJV-CBC is consistent with results of clinical studies conducted by Totoku in Japan, where visible comparison of existence and shape of microcalcifications were either equivalent or better in 99% of the cases when comparing the 9MsP monitor to the 5MP monitor.
